Easy take-off, long rides, few barrels. Beautiful landscape. The
best surf is found between
Ahangama and Midigama. When you go south from Galle, the first
surfspot is called the
Rock as the peak is in front of a big rock sticking out of the
sea. The break is in front of
Kabalana hotel, easy to find. It has a good long left and normally
a steep, short right.
Breaks up to 7ft. Incoming tide provides the best surf.

Fun, easy-to-surf right point. What sets it apart from
the rest of Sri Lanka's right,
sand-bottom pointbreaks is that because it's nearly impossible
to find without a
guide or a helicopter (and there ain't no helicopters), despite
being relatively
close to Arugam Bay, it's seldom crowded. This makes it a good
place to go
hook into a few 300-meter long rights without having to battle
three dozen
former Israeli commandos who've never heard the expression "surf
etiquette."

Crocodile
Rock (Elephant Rock)

1 hour ride to the south will leave you with a twenty minute
walk along another beautiful beach to reach Crocodile Rock. I
don't know if the place is named after one of the rocks on the
point or some of the large salt water crocs that live in the lagoon
50 meters from the break but it is a beautiful spot for a day
surf mission. This is the smallest of the three points, and you
need a medium to large swell f or Croc Rock to work at all. When
the point is 6 foot then Croc Rock will be 3 foot. It is however
a perfect wave for the beginner/intermediate or long board enthusiastic.
A sucky take-off section over sand leads on to a long wall that
breaks right down the point or about 400 meters much like inside
Pottuvil point. Again bring lots of water and make sure that your
surf point guide is there to pick you up after a session and a
long walk back in the searing tropical sun.

An amazing and often empty right point that breaks off
a large rock headland and runs at near perfect pace for up to
300 meters along well-formed sand banks. What's even greater about
this spot is that because of how remote it is, few surfers end
up here. Though it doesn't get as much swell as A Bay, would you
rather surf 6-foot waves with 100 guys or five-foot waves with
two?
You will definitely want us to find this place, as it's a minimum
two-hour drive along winding dirt paths from Arugam Bay. It's
also a good bet on smaller days. With such good banks, it's
as fun at three feet as it is at six.
